The 9th annual clothes swap was a terrific success!

The picture above is all the clothes to be washed and sorted before the Methodist Home For Children pick up date.
Next are some photos from the swap. This year we had about forty or so women accompanied by a toddler and baby to coo over!

Heidi found a slammin’ dress!

Thanks to Debbie for all her hard work!

A fun time for a great cause with fantastic people! Thanks to Sarah for volunteering to be the hostess for next year’s clothes swap!

As with most of my ideas/projects there is rarely an enforced timeline for completion. I started this painting project in December 2011.

I finished the majority of the painting this week.
We use a large section from a fallen oak tree to cut the main body of the chair.
The chair topper adds neat detail.

Now for some random fun paint shots.

The most difficult part of this painting was keeping my hands clean as to not paint my camera during the two days of painting. I used all old paints that would have ended up in the landfill to brighten up our backyard!

Since the candy canes melted all over our tree decorations back in 1997, we haven’t bothered with a Christmas tree. On a whim, we decided to put up our own Charlie Brown kind of tree last Thursday.

We cleaned out a corner of the living room and went to find the perfect tree. The perfect tree is the first one I saw. Easy! After finding a tall and wide vase and round stones to stabilize the tree, we begin to rummage around the house for the tree decor. We find cardboard and foil for the star and man in the moon and use three bits of foil to create round ornaments using paper clips to hang them with care. Large gaudy earrings make great light weight sparkle. I find sewing notions in red and gold to drape on the tree. Some saved silver ribbon gift packaging works great for tinsel. The tree skirt is an unfinished quilt piece. We also found three small ribbon and a few bits of fake holly leaves and berries to add to the tree.

Otis is proud of his first Christmas with us!
This is our ‘dog chair’; we don’t care how it looks.
I decided to make some paper candy canes for our little Charlie Brown tree.

Me just being me has all manner of experiments in various stages in my house and in our garden as well. Meet Mr. Onion Face!

So after 10 days of having my Mr. Onion Face on the counter, it was time to take farewell photos before the trip to the compost bin. Plus the gnats and smell is not very appealing.

The rotting tomatoes adds a little flair to the picture.

Time for the next phase for Mr. Onion Face. Let me introduce you to Seymour, our compost bin. Goodbye, dear friend.

We love carrots!

In addition to the health benefits of carrots, they also dazzle me. The carrots above look to be dancing under water.
Purple carrots are a garden novelty and taste great.
Lucca is a great little helper!

I found another neat carrot combo.

We have a few more carrots in the garden. I hope they bond before I harvest.

To wake up to the sight of three young yearling and their mom is a gift.

Sorry about the spots in the photos. The photos are snapped through the window screen in the guest bathroom.

The bravest of the three triplets is a young male not yet ready to leave his feeding post.

Otis and his loud bark finally persuaded him to follow his family back into the forest.

Our friends daughter Lucca is an absolute delight. She is remarkably bright and simply beautiful.

After a tasty treat it is time for a snack before nap time.

She is too darn cute!

Who can resist singing in the kitchen?

Back to a bit more playing before nappy time.

Lucca is quite the shop keeper.

After we finished our baking project it was time to read a little.

Me and Lucca try to sound like different animals. I just look plain funny!
Sadly the visit draws to and end but not without a few more sweet photos.

Lucca, you are the best hostess ever!

While the neighbors are on vacation their garden grows. I have enjoyed the various sights and sweet tasty delights from helping tend the gardens over the past few weeks.

Yay new potatoes!!!
After fretting over the health of our first potato crop, I found about ten pounds of potatoes beneath the soil. I am so proud to harvest our own potato crop. The second planting of potatoes will be equally exciting.

Our garden is hard at work!
The summer medley of squash is bursting with blossoms. In a week or less we will be dining on grilled squash!

The cucumbers are making tiny cukes.
The grasshopper is one of my many little garden friends.
The beans taste better than they look!

Enjoy your day!
