Yet another new insect for me to photograph!
This impressive guy is one of the largest members of the click beetle family Elateridae!
Mr. Beetle is not very happy with me snapping photos.
He decides to play dead for minute or two in hopes of me wonder on to the next picture.
It’s off to the next photo-op!
Enjoy your day!

Fascinated by these creatues. Wonder if they feel the same way about us?
On my Way…
I believe there is no human interest of any sort in the beetle’s journey:) Well maybe a bit of annoyance…Thanks for checking out my blog! Take care, Anna
I love the fake eyes on the back.

These are some great pics of Alaus oculatus. Elaterids are always fun to take pictures of–they just look so aerodynamic! I especially like that you were able to get a shot of his click mechanism in the 5th picture.
Anyway, thanks again for the follow and nice pics!

Nice job – I like him better than the last one! I’m sure those aren’t eyes but they are so fascinating.
Thank you! I agree with you about the click beetle. The large black circles in the top are not his real eyes. Glad you enjoy my pics! Take care, Anna
Creepy little critter
but great photographs.
Agreed! Thanks stopping by and glad you enjoy the creepy pics! Take care, Anna
looks familiar
hahaha…. it looks like a beetle we used to catch in the forest with my brothers when we were young. We call it “patango” in Filipino (to nod or nodding head in English) although i’m not really sure if it’s the same because the photo shows its big round eyes.
i like it!
Great shots
I bet they are related! Here the common name is click beetle due to the sound made when held in my hand. I have lots of family living in the Philippines:) I am from the Taguba clan:) Happy that you enjoy my photos! Thank for taking time to visit my site! Take care, Anna
