These are some great pics of Alaus oculatus. Elaterids are always fun to take pictures of–they just look so aerodynamic! I especially like that you were able to get a shot of his click mechanism in the 5th picture.

Anyway, thanks again for the follow and nice pics!

  7. That’s so funny–a beetle playing possum! Great pics.

  11. Nice job – I like him better than the last one! I’m sure those aren’t eyes but they are so fascinating.

  12. Creepy little critter :D but great photographs.

  13. looks familiar ;-) hahaha…. it looks like a beetle we used to catch in the forest with my brothers when we were young. We call it “patango” in Filipino (to nod or nodding head in English) although i’m not really sure if it’s the same because the photo shows its big round eyes.
Great shots ;-) i like it!

    • I bet they are related! Here the common name is click beetle due to the sound made when held in my hand. I have lots of family living in the Philippines:) I am from the Taguba clan:) Happy that you enjoy my photos! Thank for taking time to visit my site! Take care, Anna
